As per the leak, the Huawei Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro smartphones will come in five color options — Bright Black, Cosmic Silver, Pearl White, a new Green hue, and for the first time, the company will also offer a Yellow color.

It also reveals that the RS Porsche Edition will have a ceramic back panel. There will be Huawei Mate 40 Pro Plus variant as well, but so far the color options for this top-end model are not yet known.

In the poster announcing the phone’s launch date, the company touted the upcoming smartphone series as “Leap Further Ahead”, which could be hinting towards the chipset powering the devices — Huawei Kirin 9000 SoC, which is built on 5nm process. It could also be the company’s latest flagship chipset for the time being, because of the US sanctions.

Reports indicate that the phone could sport a similar display design as the Huawei P40 Pro series and thus it could be equipped with a curved OLED display with a pill-shaped cutout for a selfie camera as well as TOF 3D sensor for face unlock.

The devices will be running the latest EMUI 11 custom user interface, likely to be based on the Android 11 operating system. However, reports indicate that the standard Mate 40 may ship with EMUI 10.1 instead of the latest version.
