For those unaware, Huawei had first partnered up with Leica back in 2016, for its the flagship Huawei P9. The known camera company even contributed towards the image processing, UI design, and camera module design and has since been a staple partner of the smartphone maker for its flagship lineups. The leakster claimed that Leica has been contacted by a different Chinese smartphone manufacturer and had decided to end the partnership. Although, Huawei has since responded to AndroidAuthority regarding this matter and called the rumor “absolutely fake news,” while a Leica representative stated that they “have no information about the termination of the partnership.” So for the moment, it seems that the partnership is still holding strong. Even the latest Huawei Mate 40 series featured Leica branding on the rear for its camera lenses.
