Earlier today (30th December 2020), Huawei held the Developer Day conference where it talked about the latest HarmonyOS 2.0 mobile application developer beta. In this event, the company announced its growing number of developers for its proprietary platform and its ties with companies that will launch products featuring the new operating system.

Vice President of Huawei’s Consumer Business Software Department, Yang Haisong, stated that “Since the release of the HarmonyOS 2.0 mobile application developer Beta version two weeks ago, a steady stream of developers have joined the HarmonyOS ecosystem. We look forward to working with more developers and partners for a win-win situation. The next decade of the mobile industry.” Furthermore, Huawei is expecting 100 million devices to ship with HarmonyOS from over 40 partnered brands by 2021, as per a C114 News report.

On December 16, the Chinese tech giant released the HarmonyOS 2.0 mobile application developer beta, which has already seen over 1,800 developer groups signing up. This beta version of the mobile application can aid developers in completing their development work through the use of distributed application frameworks, distributed UI frameworks, and DevEco Studio. Major groups include the likes of WPS, Bilibili, Ctrip, iFLYTEK, and more.

For those unaware, HarmonyOS is Huawei’s self developed OS, which it is planning to optimize for multiple platforms. This includes cross platform integration from smartphone to even smart home products and other IoT devices (internet of things). Partnered brands have already announced their new products with the new OS, and Huawei expects many more to follow suit by the arriving year.
