Xiaomi recently launched its flagship smartphone Mi 11, which became the world’s first smartphone to come powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The device, which went on a few weeks ago, is seeing a huge demand.
The smartphone, which is being sold through flash sales in China, is getting sold out relatively sooner in each sale. Because of the high demand and low supply, the device is also being sold at a premium.
If the latest report is to be believed, then the low-stock issue for the Xiaomi Mi 11 isn’t going away anytime soon. It is being reported that the company is facing a production issue because of the global chip shortage.
With the rising demand for consumer electronics since last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the manufacturers aren’t able to meet the demand for the chipsets. This comes after Qualcomm was said to be facing issues, which in turn is affecting companies like Xiaomi and Realme. But, some experts believe that the chip shortage issue for smartphone makers isn’t very severe and won’t affect many companies.
The severely hit industry because of the shortage of chips is automobile. Many car makers have been forced to shut down some of their production facilities because of this chip shortage and it seems like it will take some time to get back on track.
