Samsung held a virtual event today for this year’s edition of MWC during which it revealed new details about the new operating system for smartwatches borne from the merger of Wear OS and Tizen. Tizen OS Galaxy Watches updates

It was revealed that users with Tizen-based smartwatches will receive software updates and Galaxy Store support for up to 3 years from launch. While this is good news, it also indirectly confirms that these watches will not get updated to the new operating system.

A small text at the bottom of the screen adds that software updates will be available to the following devices:

This means the Galaxy Watch which was announced in 2018 will have its software support come to an end this year. The Galaxy Watch Active and Galaxy Watch Active2 both announced in 2019 still have one more year of updates while the Galaxy Watch3 has two years of software support left.
