It is no longer news that Xiaomi will be launching a new tablet this year. Expected to arrive as the Mi Pad 5, the tablet will pack flagship specs such as a Snapdragon 800 series processor and a display with a 120Hz refresh rate. A new leak has surfaced and it gives us an early look at two of the tablet’s accessories.

The leak comes as CAD renders shared on Weibo by Digital Chat Station and they are of a keyboard+cover accessory for the upcoming tablet. According to the source, the final product is slightly different but these images should give us an idea of what to expect.

The renders show the keyboard will also double as a case for the tablet. As shown below, it has a squircle cut-out for the rear camera(s) and a slot for a stylus. There is even a stylus with a cylindrical design stored in the space. This means that the Mi Pad 5 will support stylus input, a first for a Xiaomi device.

The keyboard itself has island-style keys and doesn’t have a trackpad like that of the new Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro or the iPad Pro‘s Magic Keyboard. Also, rather than a kickstand or a floating design like that Magic Keyboard offers, the Mi Pad 5’s case has four grooves that the other half locks into. The Mi Pad 5 will connect to the keyboard via pogo pins.

While the keyboard will be an optional accessory, we do not know if Xiaomi will bundle the tablet with a stylus like Samsung does with its own high-end tablets. Nevertheless, we are excited and can’t wait for the Mi Pad 5 to be announced. When it arrives, it won’t be an easy ride as it will be going up against Lenovo’s Xiaoxin Pad series and Huawei’s new MatePad tablets.
