Recently, OnePlus shared a list of its software support for all the OnePlus phones. The brand promised that all the OnePlus flagships would receive three major Android upgrades and four security patches. It also announced the merge of OxygenOS codebase with Oppo’s ColorOS and confirmed that the company will switch to the integrated codebase on the current phones from the Android 12 update. Now in an interview with XDADevelopers, OnePlus confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus Nord 2 will be the first phone from the company to run on OxygenOS v11.3 based on an integrated codebase (out of the box).

According to OnePlus, the major reason for switching to an integrated codebase directly out of the box is to streamline resources. Now that OnePlus and OPPO have announced the merge, all the resources including the R&D will be common for both companies which will offer a streamlined experience.

Despite this change, there would be almost no change in daily usage and smooth experience when compared to its previous separate OxygenOS codebase.

Other than this, in the interview on XDADevelopers, OnePlus exec revealed plenty of key details regarding the upcoming OnePlus Nord 2. It is said that OnePlus choose a MediaTek flagship SoC considering its price to value ratio. Mr.Zhang from OnePlus also confirmed that the smartphone will feature a 6.43-inch Fluid AMOLED display with a high 90Hz refresh rate.

Other specs of the OnePlus Nord 2 include a 50MP Sony IMX766 triple rear camera, a 4,500mAh battery cell, and a 32MP selfie camera.

With the OnePlus Nord 2, OnePlus is expected to recreate the hype it did with the original Nord smartphone. The phone is scheduled to launch on July 22 and at the event, we are also expecting a pair of TWS buds dubbed OnePlus Buds Pro.
