Google’s upcoming Pixel 6 series and Pixel 5a 5G have been getting all of the attention but these are not the only new hardware products Google is planning to launch this year. One other device that has gotten less attention is the foldable Pixel phone, and if you have forgotten, here is a reminder that it is still coming this year.

Ross Young, the CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) confirmed again a few days ago that the foldable Pixel phone is still coming this year. Most of the details of the phone, which is expected to arrive in October, have remained a secret, unlike the Pixel 6 series whose specs and design have become public knowledge.

So far we know that the Pixel Fold will use UTG for its display and it will be supplied by Samsung.

The Pixel Fold (unofficial name) is not the only interesting device Google has in development. Last month, the same source mentioned that there will also be a Pixel Roll, and if the name didn’t make it obvious, it will have a rollable display. However, it won’t arrive until next year.

While we have seen prototypes of rollable phones, there is yet to be a commercially available version. The LG Rollable was supposed to launch one this year but that will no longer be happening since it has shut down its smartphone business. Samsung is also expected to announce a rollable smartphone next year.
