Yesterday, the iQOO 8 Pro went official as the world’s first smartphone with a Samsung E5 LTPO Super AMOLED display. Earlier today, a reliable tipster revealed that even Xiaomi is working on a smartphone with this new-gen OLED display manufactured by Samsung Display.

According to Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi has been testing the Samsung E5 LTPO Super AMOLED display for its phones for a long time. The panel used by the Chinese tech giant is said to have a relatively smaller punch-hole and adaptive refresh rate, thanks to LTPO tech.

Unfortunately, the leaker does not say how much small the punch-hole will be. For those unaware, the Redmi K40 series has the smallest punch hole-hole in the world measuring 2.98mm. Hence, the upcoming display from Xiaomi could be around the same size or even smaller than that.

Since display with the above-mentioned specs is high-end, it could debut on the Xiaomi Mi 12 series. The successor of the Mi 11 series is rumored to launch in December with the unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon SM8450 chipset.

If this happens to be true, then just like the Mi 11, the Mi 12 will be the world’s first smartphone with the next-gen premium Qualcomm mobile SoC. Also, it will be the first Xiaomi phone with an LTPO panel for adaptive refresh rate.
