Comcast, a telecommunications conglomerate based in the United States, is jumping into the Smart TV market. It is gearing up to launch two new smart TV models in the market under the XClass TV brand and the launch is expected to happen soon.

The report, coming from Protocol, claims that for the Smart TVs, Comcast has partnered with Chinese manufacturer Hisense. For those who are unaware, Hisense has its own lineup of Smart TVs and has captured around 5 percent of the market share in the United States.

It is being claimed that the XClass TV will be running a version of the Comcast X1 operating system which is currently powering the set-top boxes from the company as well as the Xfinity Flex streaming box.

A few months ago, it was reported by WSJ that Comcast has struck a deal with Walmart for selling the upcoming smart TVs through the country’s largest retail chain. Comcast was working on entering this market for quite some time and has already registered X Class TV trademark and has set up a website XClasstv.com which currently remains inaccessible.

Coming to the TV models, leaks indicate two models with 4K display panels of 43-inch and 50-inch. It will support several applications, including Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Disney+, Tubi, and Pluto, as well as its own Peacock and Xumo streaming services.

It is also being claimed that those who activate XCast TV for the first time will be able to get one-year access to Peacock’s premium tier for free. It will also come with a voice-controlled remote with shortcut buttons for Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, and Peacock.

As of now, there’s no information available about the pricing or the availability details of the upcoming XClass Smart TVs from Comcast. However, the Peacock promotion terms mention availability after 1st September, hinting at the imminent launch.
