Hisense, the China-based company known for making TVs, has now announced the world’s first rollable screen laser TV. The announcement was made by the company at the 3rd Global Laser Display Technology and Industry Development Forum.

While unveiling the new TV, Yu Zhitao, Vice President of Hisense Group Holding Company, said: “Laser display is actually a set of space solutions. Hisense’s world’s first rollable screen laser TV is just the beginning.”

This new Hisense Laser TV with a rollable screen features a big 77-inch display panel and is powered by the company’s own rolling or curled screen technology and full-color laser technology. It supports 4K ultra-high HDR resolution, 107% BT.2020 ultra-wide color gamut, and 350nits  of peak brightness.

In terms of design, there are virtually no bezels on the side of the screen but there’s a bezel on the top and a thicker bezel at the bottom. So far, Hisense has applied for more than 70 patents related to this curling screen laser TV.

It features Transvision visual engine and Harmon Kardon speakers for a theatre-grade audio experience. So, the company says that when the screen is rolled out, it gives a theatre-like experience and when it’s rolled down, it acts like an opera house.

The product is built using aviation-grade high-tech materials and meets the flexibility requirements of curling as well as the stiffness requirements for flatness at the same time. The theatre-grade audio, tuned by the Harmon Cardon Golden Ear team, comes with support for Dolby sound effects DTS dual decoding.

Currently, this new Hisense Rollable Screen Laser TV is available for booking on JD.com but the company has not yet revealed its pricing or availability details. If you are interested, then the product can be booked for just 1 yuan. Based on the previous announcement from the company, it’s likely that the device will go on sale later this year.
