South Korean technology giant Samsung is gearing up to launch a new F-series smartphone in the Indian market, dubbed Samsung Galaxy F42 5G. A microsite for the upcoming device is now live on Samsung’s own website as well as Flipkart, confirming that the phone will be officially launched in India on 29th September.
Apart from the launch date, the upcoming smartphone’s design, as well as key features, have also been revealed. There’s a waterdrop notch on top of the screen while the device features a triple-camera setup on the back, housed inside a square-shaped camera module.

The company has confirmed that the device will feature a Full HD+ screen that offers a 90Hz refresh rate but the display size has not been revealed. However, leaks indicate that the phone will come with a 6.6-inch LCD panel.
Under the hood, the device is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. There will also be a microSD card slot for storage expansion and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security.
The phone is also confirmed to come with 12 5G bands support. In the camera department, the Samsung Galaxy F42 5G is expected to come with a 64-megapixel primary sensor, a 5-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
Samsung has also confirmed that the smartphone will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery but the charging speed remains unknown. We expect the device to run the Android 11 operating system out-of-the-box with One UI on top.
Coming to the availability, given that the device has been listed on Flipkart, it’s likely to be available for purchase exclusively through the online marketplace. With the launch date set for 29th September, it could go on sale a couple of days after the announcement.
