Owners of older Google Pixel smartphones rejoice as the company has said that it working on bringing some of the Pixel 6 series features to its previously launched smartphone models.

Google

The search engine giant told Android Authority that it will roll out a few of the new features that arrive with the latest Pixel 6 phones. Some of the new features arriving to the older models include the astrophotography mode, Cinematic Pan option, and Call Screening, and more. Although, the older models will still miss a couple of the new features since the new Pixel 6 series heavily relies on its proprietary Tensor processor for some of the new features. So, there are technical limitations here on a hardware level.

This includes the new Live Translate, Motion Mode, and others. According to the company’s representative “As with all Pixel features, we aim to bring as many features as possible to older Pixels where technically possible — though it might take some time to develop and offer a different experience. Some technologies will require additional technical investments, such as Live Translate, as our on device language models are engineered to run on Pixel 6’s proprietary Tensor chip on TPU (which older Pixel models don’t have).”

While this basically confirms that Google will be launching some features to older Pixel phones, the company has yet to reveal an official date for the roll out of this feature. So stay tuned for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this matter.
