Following a wave of leaked renders, Google’s Pixel 8a is stepping out of the shadows with a fresh batch of promotional materials. These new materials give us a more detailed glimpse into what this mid-range smartphone has in store.

The promo material confirms that the Pixel 8a will be powered by the Tensor G3 chipset, the same one found in the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro. The silicon should provide solid performance for everyday tasks.

On the camera front, the Pixel 8a is touted as having an “AI-mazing” camera. It has features like Best Take, Audio Magic Eraser, and Night Sight, which are all powered by AI.

Best Take helps you pick the perfect shot from a burst, automatically selecting the one where everyone has their eyes open and looks natural.

Moreover, Audio Magic Eraser removes unnecessary background noise in videos, and Night Sight will help to capture better low-light shots.

The Pixel 8a is also rumored to support “fast charging” and sport a “dependable all-day battery,” although we’re still waiting on specifics. Leaks suggest a 4,500 mAh battery size.

For durability, the Pixel 8a will also have an IP67 rating, making it resistant to dust and capable of surviving in up to one meter of water for half an hour.

But the real highlight of the Pixel 8a might be its software. The promo hints at an impressive seven-year run of security updates, aligning it with the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro.

As for other specifications, rumors suggest that the phone will have a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of base storage, a 64MP main camera, a 13MP ultrawide camera, and support for 27W wired charging.

The handset is expected to launch on May 14th at the Google I/O and it might go on sale on May 16th.
