Earlier today, Krafton introduced the ‘Game Responsibly’ initiative for BGMI, which will enable a level of parental control over the much-loved battle royale game via time limitations and OTP confirmation.

BGMI game responsibily

Ever since Krafton brought back PUBG mobile in the form of BGMI to India, the company had made a conscious effort to promote a healthy game-life balance when it came to its player base, especially minors (under 18 years of age). With that in mind, Krafton has introduced an upcoming feature that will allow parents to take control over the playtime as every player below the age of 18 will need to register a parent or guardian before beginning each session – upon which the parent/guardian will receive an OTP to authorize the session, or not. Granted permission, the player will be able to play the game for the next three hours.

With this update, BGMI will now have a plethora of features aimed towards a responsible game-life balance as well as parental control, namely-

  • A virtual world reminder that announces your arrival into a virtual world when you join a match lobby.
  • Censorship in the form of censored nudity, decreased levels of violence and bloodshed.
  • Playtime limitations for players below the age of 18 will limit them to play up to 3 hours per day.
  • Break reminders to ensure that playing times don’t go on for exceedingly long hours without a break.
  • Daily spending limits for players below the age of 18 that caps the amount the player can spend in-game per day to RS 7000 ($94).
  • OTP authentication to play the game in case of an underage player.
