ColorOS 12 brings a number of new features. One of them is PC Connect, which is also known as Cross Screen Interconnection (translated) in China. This feature is yet to make its debut on any smartphone in international markets. Weeks later, we now know when it will be available for the public.
During our brief interaction with the ColorOS team, the representatives revealed that PC Connect will be made available in 2022 for select devices. Now, OPPO has officially confirmed that the feature will be available in February 2022 at the earliest.
The company has even disclosed the following options of PC Connect.
- Drag and drop files
- Sync screenshots and photos
- Screen sharing
- Clipboard sharing
- Notification synchronization
Another tweet by the same account says that PC Connect will be part of ColorOS 12.1. In order to use it, the PC must have at least Windows 10 18362 or later, Intel Core i3 2.4GHz or above, Wi-Fi Direct from October 2018 or later, and Bluetooth 4.1 or higher.
This means the feature should work on almost all modern computers. However, it will be limited to select smartphones.
At present, Huawei’s Multi Screen Collaboration is probably the best implementation of interconnection between phones and computers. Only time will tell whether OPPO’s PC Connect will be able to stand against it.
