Last week, iQOO revealed that it will be soon announcing new Neo branded smartphone(s) in China. At that time, the rumor mill speculated that the company could be gearing up to launch the iQOO Neo5s handset. Today, iQOO took to its Weibo handle to confirm that its next phone will be called the iQOO Neo5S. The handset is scheduled to go official on Dec. 20.

The iQOO Neo5S image shared by the brand shows that it will be a gaming-friendly phone. It can be said based on recent reports that it is equipped with an AMOLED panel with a punch-hole design. It is speculated to feature dual pressure-sensitive sensors for an optimized gaming experience.

The handset is likely to carry support for a 120Hz refresh rate and a high touch sampling rate. The Snapdragon 888 mobile platform is likely to power the handset with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. This device is likely to arrive as an updated version of the iQOO Neo5 Vitality Edition that debuted earlier this year.

There is no word on the battery capacity of the Neo5S. However, it is expected to carry support for 66W fast charging. It will come preinstalled OriginOS Ocean UI based Android 11 or 12 OS.

For selfies, the iQOO Neo5S may feature a 16-megapixel selfie camera. The rear-facing triple camera unit of the smartphone may feature an OIS-enabled 48-megapixel Sony IMX598 primary camera. The other details of the Neo5S are under the wraps.

It is unclear whether the rumored Snapdragon 778G Plus powered iQOO Neo5 SE will also debut with the iQOO Neo5S. This Neo5 SE is also expected to support 66W charging.
