Redmi, the sub-brand of Xiaomi, launched the Redmi K40 at the end of February 2021 in China. Almost a year later, the top variant of the smartphone will be available at a never-before-seen price tonight. This deal is offered by a popular online retailer ahead of the Chinese New Year.

JD (aka Jingdong) has announced a stellar deal on the almost year-old Redmi K40. According to ITHome, the retailer will be selling the top-of-the-line 12GB + 256GB variant of the phone at only ¥1,849 ($291) starting tonight at 8 PM in China.

The handset normally retails at ¥2,049 ($322). But from later today, the retailer will offer a ¥200 ($31) discount coupon as part of its Spring Festival Sale celebrating the New Year.

The original price of Redmi K40 12GB + 256GB was ¥2699 when it was first introduced. Like any other consumer electronics product, its price was cut down multiple times in the following months as it aged.

This smartphone is also known as Mi 11X in India and POCO F3 in other international markets. However, they don’t come in a 12GB + 256GB variant.

Having said that, Redmi is gearing up to launch the Redmi K50 series in China in November. The brand has already started teasing the arrival of the new lineup.
