With the ongoing shortage of semiconductors and materials gripping various industries across the globe, the PC components market did not fare any better. GPU prices sky rocket as there is barely any supply. But there might still be hope since Intel is looking to enter the GPU segment as well.
For those unaware, the American chipmaking giant is working on its own graphics cards, despite being known for its popular CPUs. These upcoming GPUs will be a part of its Arc series and are set to launch soon. With the PC market suffering from shortages of GPUs due to the pandemic and various other factors, many have been waiting for Intel’s Arc release, hoping that it would alleviate some of the supply constraints. And now, an executive from the company has offered some additional reassurances as well.
In a tweet, Raja Koduri, senior vice president and general manager of Intel’s AXG group, stated that the chipmaker is also working on addressing the big issue that PC gamers are facing right now. He stated that Intel Graphics are seeking to find a way that lets get “millions of Arc GPUs into the hands of PC gamers every year.” Amid production taking a hit due to the pandemic and scalpers further worsening GPU prices, Intel might be a saving grace in the market.
