Earlier today (15th February 2022), OPPO shared an interesting new announcement on its official Weibo account (a Chinese microblogging website). The company revealed that it will be partnering up with Hasselblad for the cameras on its next gen flagship Find X series of smartphones.

For those unaware, Hasselblad is a known professional camera maker from Sweden. It has patterned up with other smartphone brands like OnePlus in the past, and now, it is working with OPPO for its upcoming premium grade handsets. As per the official announcement, the Chinese company stated its partnership with Hasselblad with include major technological innovations as well. This includes computational color and computational optics, along with joint research and development of Hasselblad Focus Color.
Furthermore, these new cameras optimized by the professional camera maker will be for its high end Find X series of smartphones. With OPPO merging with OnePlus, both firms will also share their research and development platform and resources, which means that more users will benefit from the Hasselblad cameras as well. Notably, this also follows shortly after the company announced the MariSilicon X NPU imaging chipset that was dedicated for photography.

Previously, we had even reported on Find X5 Pro specifications and renders leak, which revealed the Hasselblad camera branding on the rear. So, this announcement is in line with our report. The cooperation between Hasselblad and OPPO will reportedly last for up to 3 years. With the inclusion of the former’s expertise in camera technology, we can even expect the new flagship to offer better optimizations for its sensors, with more natural colors.
