After OPPO K9 Pro 5G, OPPO has started recruiting ColorOS 12 open beta testers for OPPO Reno4 SE 5G in China. Registrations for this smartphone have begun right on time following the schedule shared by the company late last month. For those unaware, the company usually kickstarts its software rollout program earlier than the stipulated timeline.

According to an official announcement post on OPPO Community, the Android 12-based ColorOS 12 open beta registrations for the OPPO Reno4 SE 5G in China will be live from today (February 17) until tomorrow (February 18) for the first batch.

The post says that applications will be reviewed within 5 working days. Further, the beta build will be released for selected participants via OTA within 3 working days from the declaration of the result. Applicants who didn’t get selected can try their luck in the next batch of recruitment whenever that happens.

Having said that, in order to register, the participant’s unit should be on firmware version C.19 or C.20. If their phone is on the required firmware, they need to go to Settings > Software Update > Gear Icon > Apple for Beta Version > Update Beta Version and follow the on-screen instructions.

OPPO is yet to reveal when this handset will get access to the stable update. We believe it will be out around a month later.

OPPO Reno4 SE debuted with ColorOS 7.2 based on Android 10. It was updated to Android 11-based ColorOS 11 last year. Hence, ColorOS 12 based on Android 12 is its last major software update as OPPO has promised only two Android updates for the OPPO Reno series.
