OSOM, a new smartphone company formed by some of the former members of the Essential company, is reportedly gearing up to launch a new smartphone named OSOM OV1 in the coming months.

The OSOM OV1 smartphone was supposed to go official during Mobile World Congress 2022 in Barcelona, Spain at the end of this year but the launch has been postponed. It is now expected to go official sometime in Summer.

OSOM OV1

As of now, nothing is known about the smartphone apart from the fact that the OSOM OV1 is focusing more on privacy. A poll by the company on LinkedIn a few weeks ago hinted at four new colors — Solar Yellow, Borealis Green, Twilight Blue, and Dusk Purple.

It is not known how many colors from those fours will eventually make it to the device. The company had also shown the smartphone in Black and White colors last year.

For those who are unaware, OSOM is an acronym for “Out of sight, Out of mind” and the OV1 stands for OSOM Vault 1. As stated above, the company, founded by Jason Keats and Wolfgang W. Muller, has team members that worked on the Essential PH-1 or Phone 1.

Essential, a company created by Android founder Andy Rubin, had launched its first smartphone dubbed as Essential One in 2017. The company was eventually shut down, just a couple of years after the launch of its first phone. Last year, Essential was acquired by Nothing, a company founded by former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei.
