The OPPO Find X5 series will use “suspended anti-shake technology” for the first time, which is very similar to the sensor-shift + OIS combo used by Apple on the iPhone 13 series. The technology enables movement of the sensor instead of the lens, that too at a much faster rate. This enables greatly improved stabilization across both photography and videography — but at a cost. According to a new report, the new tech on the Find X5 series is quite pricey and could even result in a slight bump in price.

IT Home via “Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily” has revealed that the cost of the fancy new suspended anti-shake tech on the OPPO Find X5 series has exceeded $50. While this may not sound like much, BOM (bill of materials) costs typically rise by around 2 to 3 times when converted to the retail price.

On top of that, the Find X5 series is also equipped with OPPO’s first-ever self-developed NPU chip for imaging. Dubbed ‘MariSilicion X,’ the chip only adds to the cost further. And if that’s not enough, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is reportedly pricier than the last-gen Snapdragon 888 chip.

When all of this is put together, it does indeed appear that the OPPO Find X5 series will be priced higher than the Find X3 series. While IT Home expects a 1000 Yuan (~$150) increase, it is hard to know for sure at this point. Hopefully, OPPO will figure out a way to sell the upcoming flagship series without any change in price whatsoever.
