The addition of an integrated drone for aerial filming is an impressive innovation that is present in the Polestar O2 roadster. The Polestar O2 is the second concept from the Swedish electric vehicle manufacturer recently announced.
The Polestar O2 is a sporty convertible designed to showcase the automaker’s bonded aluminum platform and rich history. Polestar is a joint venture between Volvo and Geely focused on delivering top-notch EV offerings. The Polestar O2 sports an impressive sporty design and could be a delight on wheels. It is an electric two-seater sports car that could rival the Tesla Roadster and a few other established EVs. Currently, only a few sports EVs are market-ready. This creates an opportunity for Polestar to place a marker for subsequent brands with its beautiful concept.
Key details for the Polestar O2 are not known at this time but as the concept evolves, its performance metrics will surface. The company however says it has over 110 kWh of battery power, The exterior design of the Polestar O2 bears some semblance with the company’s first concept and also reflects its Volvo roots.
The interior of the O2 showcases the environmental credentials of Polestar. It is made from a new thermoplastic mono-material – a recycled polyester that is used as the sole material for all the soft interior components. Polestar says this represents a step towards what it calls greater circularity, while also reducing weight and waste.
By far, the most distinctive feature in the Polestar O2 is its “cinematic drone” which is a concept developed in collaboration with Hoco Flow. The integrated drone is designed to be deployed while the car is moving, to record driving sequences. Although there is no specific timeline for the transformation of the O2 from concept to a production vehicle the company is hopeful of that direction.
