Samsung launched the Galaxy XCover Pro in 2020. Two years later, the company is now said to debut its successor dubbed as Galaxy XCover Pro 2. For those unaware, the Galaxy XCover series is Samsung’s rugged smartphone lineup targeted at field workers.

According to SamMobile, Samsung is working on a new rugged smartphone with model number SM-G736B. The publication suggests that this phone will go official as Galaxy XCover 2 with support for 5G connectivity.

If this is true, then the device will be the first-ever 5G smartphone in the Galaxy XCover lineup. All the models released so far, including last year’s Galaxy XCover 5, are limited to 4G LTE.

Unfortunately, nothing else is known about this phone. However, the publication suggests some features based on its predecessor.

First and foremost, the handset may arrive with a removable battery like other Galaxy XCover devices. Secondly, it could be based on Galaxy A53 as its predecessor shared so much with Galaxy A51.

Therefore, Samsung could equip the Galaxy XCover Pro 2 with its own Exynos 1280 SoC.  Finally, the handset might also be eligible for 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security updates.
