Yamaha has recently registered the name E01 and the EC-05. The latter is an electric scooter that was already on sale in Taiwan. Now, it seems that the company is gearing up to launch a new electric scooter in India soon.

According to a Rushlane report, the Japanese automobile maker’s first Indian market could be a max styled scooter. This will be a premium product and will probably rival the likes of the Ather 450X and Bajaj Chetak. The report adds that the scooter will be equipped with a full digital LCD panel console. It will also feature Bluetooth connectivity and users will even be able to access a range of features and functions via Yamaha’s smartphone application.

As of right now, information regarding this upcoming electric scooter is still at large. Although, it is expected to offer performance that matches a 110cc petrol scooter like the Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter. Furthermore, its range may be around 70 to 80 kilometers, with a top speed of 80 and 100 kmph. It is also expected to offer multiple ride modes, which determines speed and range. Other rumored features include, LED headlight, alloys at front and rear, trendy rear view mirrors and comfy single piece seat.

The scooter segment is popular in India, so the company might also offer multiple ownership options.
