Xiaomi on Monday launched a Kindle competitor device in the Chinese market. The all-new Xiaomi Duokan Electronic Paper Book Pro II has a large E-ink display, up to 6 weeks of standby, and a quad-core chipset.
The Xiaomi Paper Book Pro II comes with Duokan reading system that rivals Amazon’s Kindle. The reader tablet has a 7.8-inch flat E-ink display with a resolution of 1872 x 1404 pixels. The screen has a 300 PPI screen density and a 24-level cold and warm two-color reading light. It is slim with a thickness of 7mm and weighs 250 grams.

The Paper Book Pro II has an RK3566 quad-core chipset coupled with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. As per Xiaomi, the system response speed has increased by 109% on the new E-ink reader. The device packs a 3,200mAh battery that is claimed to offer up to 6 weeks of standby.

It comes with support for built-in voice search and has the Baidu network. It has WLAN book transfer, Bluetooth book transfer, and PDF rearrangement support. The device supports formats like EPUB, PDF, TXT, EXCEL, PPT, and other documents.

The Xiaomi Duokan Electronic Paper Book Pro II is priced at CNY 1,299(~$204) but will be available for CNY 1,199(~$188) for some time. The device can be pre-booked starting today in China.
