The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo has been working on a foldable smartphone for quite some time now. The company has teased that the device will officially be unveiled on April 11, but there have been quite a few leaks so far. So here’s what we can expect from the Vivo X Fold.

Design and display

The official renders of the Vivo X Fold have revealed the phone to have an in-ward folding design like other foldable smartphones available on the market. The front side of the device has a punch-hole screen with a curved edge. The rear shell of the device has a rectangle camera block with a quad-camera unit and an LED flash inside it.vivo X Fold

The right edge of the Vivo X Fold has a button that looks like an alert slide. The other edge of the device has a volume rocker and a power key. Opening the device reveals its massive foldable screen with a punch-hole design.

A recent promotion material leak confirmed that the foldable phone features an 8-inch 2K LTPO 3.0 internal folding screen with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. There is also a 6.53-inch Full HD+ outer display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Cameras

In the camera department, the Vivo X Fold will feature a quad-camera setup on the back with Zeiss lens and T* coating. There’s a 50-megapixel Samsung GN5 primary camera sensor, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, a 12-megapixel portrait lens, and a 5-megapixel periscope lens.

Performance

Under the hood, the device is revealed to house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset clocked at up to 3GHz. It has a base frequency of 1.78GHz. The chipset is coupled with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 internal storage. It is expected to have up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

It runs the Android 12 operating system with the company’s own custom UI on top. The phone packs a 4,600mAh battery and comes with 66W fast charging support and 50W wireless charging.

Pricing and availability

So far, no details about the pricing of the device have surfaced as of yet. The Vivo X Fold is expected to be available in three color options — Blue, Crimson, and Orange. The device is set officially launch on April 11.
