Lenovo, the world’s leading laptop manufacturer with the most laptop shipments in the fiscal year of 2021, is now looking to compete with Microsoft’s premium flagship line, the Microsoft Surface Pro 8, with their 2-in-1 Windows convertible solution as well, the Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5i.

Dubbed the Microsoft Surface Pro rival, the Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5i is a Windows detachable tablet-style convertible with an included Bluetooth keyboard and an optional Lenovo WACOM stylus in the package. The device is built within an aluminium metal chassis with a built-in kickstand to keep the device upright on any surface.

The screen of the detachable is a 12.3-inch IPS LCD display with an aspect of 16:10 and a resolution of 2.5K (2560 x 1600). The display can also go up to a brightness of 450 nits, supports Dolby Vision® content, and cover 96% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut.

The detachable is equipped with Intel’s latest 12th Gen Alder Lake U-series of processors, the Pentium 8505, i5-1235U and i7-1255U, which feature Intel’s newly introduced efficiency cores(E-cores) that help to deliver better battery life for the device on when running on idle to light tasks, compared to 11th Gen cores. Coupled with the 50Wh battery, Lenovo claims the device will be able to deliver up to 11 hours of screen on time with a single charge.

For memory configuration options, the Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5i can be equipped with up to 16GB of DDR4X RAM, and up to 1TB M.2 PCIe SSD. Buyers can also modify their laptop to include connectivity support up to Bluetooth® 5.2 and WiFi 6E which can provide faster speeds and lower latency for your daily Internet browsing.

The detachable only has two ports, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C ports with PowerDelivery Support, which are present on the tablet. Another standout feature is that the tablet has not only a front-facing 5MP webcam for video calls but also a rear-facing camera as well for those who want to take pictures of documents on the go.

Lenovo has not announced the official availability or sale date for the IdeaPad Duet 5i in the global market yet, but landing pages of the device have already popped up in countries and regions across the world, such as in the Eurozone, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Malaysia and also Israel. Since the landing pages are already up, it is expected for the detachable to launch soon in the aforementioned markets.
