A couple of months ago, the Redmi K40S smartphone was launched in the Chinese market along with the Redmi K50 series phones. As the name itself indicates, the Redmi K40S is another variant of the Redmi K40 that was launched last year.
Now, just a few weeks after the device went on sale in its home country China, the company has introduced a price cut, reducing the retail price of the smartphone.
The Redmi K40S had a price of 1,999 yuan for the base model with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. After the price cut, it is available for 1,949 yuan, which is around $295.
Similarly, the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage as well as 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage models also received a 50 yuan price cut, bringing down the cost to 2,149 yuan (~$325) and 2,349 yuan (~$355) respectively.
As for the specifications, the phone features a 6.67-inch Samsung E4 AMOLED display with support for Full HD+ screen resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor, coupled with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 internal storage.
In the camera department, there’s a 48-megapixel Sony IMX582 primary sensor, coupled with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel macro lens. On the front side, the device has a 20-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling.
The device runs the Android 12 operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own MIUI custom interface on top. It is powered by a 4,500mAh battery and comes with support for 67W fast charging.
