Some renders and an FCC certification have surfaced of an upcoming Motorola smartphone – the Moto G42. The new images and documentation could point to the imminent release of the device, although a specific release date is not available at this time.Motorola Moto G42

The upcoming Motorola Moto G42 is codenamed HawaiiPlusOLED22 with model number XT2233-2. The Moto G42 is the successor to the Moto G41 which was released in 2021. However, the Moto G42 is on a lower pedestal than the Moto G52, hence it will come cheaper expectedly. As its codename indicates, the Moto G42 will come with an OLED screen although the details about its display are still unknown.

The FCC certification documentation indicates that the Moto G42 will be a dual SIM 4G phone. The absence of a 5G-enabled chipset on the Moto G42 indicates that the device is not in the flagship band. While the Moto G41 was powered by an Helio G85 chip, the Moto G52 has a Snapdragon 680. We expect the Moto G42 chipset to fall between the two models. It is noted that the Motorola Moto G62, which is yet to be released, will support 5G connectivity.

The Moto G42 will debut with the Android 12 operating system and it supports NFC. The model already has the Wi-Fi Alliance and EEC certifications. There are no words yet on the release date of the Moto G42. We are also lacking pricing information and the full specs list of the model at this time.
