Apple is expected to launch its next-generation smartwatch lineup in the form of the Apple Watch Series 8 later this year, along with the new iPhone 14 series. Ahead of the official announcement, several details about the device have leaked online.

Now, a new report from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg for Power On newsletter claims that the upcoming Apple Watch Series 8 could come with a body temperature sensor.

It is said that by using the sensor, the smartwatch will be able to determine if the user is running a fever but it won’t be able to give an exact reading of the body temperature. As of now, it will be able to detect spikes in body temperature and determine if the user should see a doctor or not.

The company is reportedly in the internal testing phase for the body temperature sensor and if it passes through the test, then it will be incorporated in the upcoming Watch Series 8 lineup but may not make its way to the budget SE lineup.

Apart from the addition of this new sensor, the upcoming smartwatch lineup from the technology giant won’t have major new features but will most probably consist of minor upgrades, including better display for the high-end models.

Currently, the company has not revealed anything related to the Apple Watch Series 8 but given the track record, we expect the devices to officially get launched in a few months along with the Apple iPhone 14 lineup.
