After doing a commendable job with ColorOS 12 updates, Oppo is now moving towards the latest iteration of its software skin. The company recently opened the ColorOS 13 closed beta testing program for limited devices. Oppo is still months away from rolling out the latest version of ColorOS and while we wait, a noted tipster has shared some revealing screenshots taken from the beta version of the software which show the new UI and features.

Tipster Digital Chat Station has shared several screenshots of Oppo’s ColorOS 13 (Via IThome). The screenshots reveal some interesting details. For instance, there is a revamped Settings menu. There’s also a new design for some system apps and menus with plenty of white space and larger fonts.

Moreover, the new OS will improve the background retention rate and the adaptation of free small windows. The screenshots show that the ColorOS 13’s settings menu will have support for various tab switching effects including the default, window, prism, square and other styles.

It can be seen in the pictures that Oppo has renamed the Oppo Sans to OPlus Sans. This is said to be in correlation with the change of OnePlus’ positioning this year.

Also, ColorOS 13 will allow users to expand the folder size on the home screen. Due to this, apps could be opened quickly by tapping on the icons from even outside the folder. Previous reports have suggested that the UX design will be very similar to OnePlus’s HydrogenOS.

As mentioned, Oppo has already started recruiting limited users for closed beta testing. The company may open the public testing in August. Judging from the timeline, we expect the ColorOS 13 to be launched in Mid-August.
