Google‘s latest flagship, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are the most successful smartphones manufactured by the search giant yet. However, they are also known as the most bug-ridden Pixels to date.

We recently covered a report by TradingPlatform’s Edith Reads that stated that Google might be losing its loyal userbase due to the constant buds of the Pixel 6 series. Just a few days after that report, the device now has a new problem which is making the display pixels turn black.

Pixel 6 series users have taken to Google’s support page, Twitter and Reddit to complain about black spots on their phones’ screens. A Pixel 6 Pro user wrote to Google support saying “The screen has developed a black dot that appears to be growing. The phone has not been dropped and has been updated.” The user also adds that Google support (chat/call) isn’t helping either.

Some Pixel 6 series users have noticed a black dot around the front camera, while others have noticed a black dot forming in the upper right corner of the phone. Users believe the dots to be dead pixels on the screen. It’s unclear whether this problem is caused by faulty hardware or by software. There is a widespread belief that this is a hardware issue, which means customers must contact Google to get their devices replaced/fixed.

Currently, it is unclear how widespread this issue is, and Google is yet to release a public statement on the matter. However, with the launch of the Pixel 7 series getting closer, this latest incident is sure to put some doubts in the minds of customers eagerly waiting for the device.
