The Xiaomi 12S Ultra has gone through the rigors of JerryRigEverything’s durability tests as posted on its YouTube channel. The tests covered the new camera hump of the device which houses its 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor. Host Zach Nelson put the device through the paces with an average performance. Xiaomi 12S Ultra

The 12S Ultra is a successor to the Mi 11 Ultra with improvements across several aspects. While the suspicion before the test was that the new rear camera hump could be a weak link, actual durability tests proved otherwise. The 12S Ultra has a premium exterior design with silicone leather although its Harmon Kardon frame is plastic and prone to razor scratches. The display of the 12S Ultra has Gorilla glass Victus protection but was not tested via Mohs picks. The device did not get a perfect performance as the bending forces had some impact on it.

On the whole, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra remained fully functional all through the tests and passed the test. The Xiaomi flagship fared no worse in the JerryRigEverything bend tests than some of the premium Android smartphones.

Of note, however, is the popping noise and slight crack around the frame during the test. Users of the 12S Ultra are assured that their smartphones will last the course of daily use because it is sufficiently durable.
