Huawei Mate 50 series is expected to launch next month. The lineup will reportedly consist of standard, Pro and RS Porsche Design variants. The upcoming offerings will arrive as the successors to the Mate 40 series. The brand had unveiled HarmonyOS 3.0 with a host of new features last month.

Now according to a Chinese blogger, the Huawei Mate 50 series will ship with HarmongOS 3.0 and also an emergency mode feature. As the name suggests, the emergency mode will allow users to make certain tasks in case of an emergency. It has certain application scenarios. When the battery runs out, the emergency mode supports calls, text messages, and scan functions. For example, when the phone is out of power users can scan the location code and enter the shopping mall to borrow a power bank. It remains unclear how the function will be implemented. It’s likely that the phone’s system will reserve a little power at the end of emergency use.

The blogger also added that the Mate 50 standard edition will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor instead of the previously reported Snapdragon 888 4G. The Pro and RS Porsche Design variants are expected to be equipped with Kirin 9000S chipsets.

As for HarmonyOS 3.0, it packs a host of new features including a universal card widget, HyperTerminal, performance upgrades, privacy and security improvements.
