Motorola has unveiled the Motorola Edge (2022) upper mid-range phone in the US. It has arrived as the successor to the Motorola Edge (2021). The Edge (2022) is the first-ever phone to feature the Dimensity 1050 chipset. The 6nm chip comprises two Cortex-A78 CPU cores working at 2.5GHz, six Cortex-A55 CPU cores ticking at 2.0GHz, and a Mali-G610 MC3. The chipset carries support for mmWave 5G connectivity. Motorola Edge (2022) specification and features
Starting from the front, the Motorola Edge (2022) features a 6.6-inch OLED panel that offers a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, an aspect ratio of 20:9, and a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. It supports 10-bit colours and HDR10+. Unlike the model before it, which had a fingerprint scanner on the side, the Edge (2022) has a sensor under the screen.
For shooting selfies, the Edge (2022) is fitted with a 32-megapixel front camera. Its back panel has a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS support. It is accompanied by a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens that doubles up as a macro camera. The rear camera setup also includes a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
The Dimensity 1050 SoC is supported by 6 GB / 8 GB of RAM. The device offers 128 GB / 256 GB of built-in storage, and it runs on Android 12 with My UX on top. It features a 5,000mAh battery that supports 30W TurboPower charging as well as 15W wireless charging.
The Edge (2022) offers other features, such as dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, a USB-C port, 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and NFC. It has a physical SIM slot and one e-SIM. The device lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. It supports Motorola’s Ready For feature, which allows users to have a PC-like experience by connecting to a bigger display. The device measures 160.86 x 74.24 x 7.99 and weighs 170 grams. Lastly, it comes with an IP52-certified chassis.
Motorola Edge (2022) price and availability
The Motorola Edge 2022 has arrived at a limited-time price of $498 in the US. It will be sold first through T-Mobile in the coming weeks, and later it will be released through Verizon, AT&T, Spectrum Mobile, US Cellular, and Visible. The unlocked Edge (2022) will be sold through Motorola’s website, Amazon, and Best Buy with a price tag of $499 for a limited period. After the end of the promotion period, it will be available for $599. It comes in the Mineral Gray color only.
