Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold4 and, just like last year, Xiaomi did not stand by and watch. The Chinese giant came up with the amazing Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, a device that has nothing to envy of the best foldable phones on the market. But this year, Samsung and Xiaomi are not the only companies that launched a foldable phone able to transform into a tablet. A few months ago, even Vivo launched its first foldable phone: the Vivo X Fold. Despite being the first foldable from the Blue Factory, it has no compromises and it is perfectly able to compete with the best ones. That is the reason why we decided to publish a comparison between the main specifications of the Vivo X Fold and the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2. If you want to know more, go ahead and, if you do not agree with us, let us know what you think by using the comment box below the article.

Design

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 and the Vivo X Fold have the same form factor, with a foldable display on the internal part and an additional display on the external part. But which one is the most beautiful? I personally prefer the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 because it has a smaller camera module and because it is thinner and lighter than its rival. While unfolded, its thickness is just 5.4 mm, while the weight is 262 grams. However, the Vivo X Fold remains a beautiful foldable phone and it is not too heavy or too thick. The hinge mechanisms are sturdy and resistant, allowing to position the two handsets at different angles depending on the usage scenario. Both feature a nano SIM slot, but the Xiaomi is the only one with a dual SIM slot, while you can insert just one single SIM on the Vivo and it does not even support the eSIM technology.

Display

Coming to the internal foldable display, on the paper, Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 looks to offer a better panel. It is an AMOLED display with the LTPO 2.0 technology enabling an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz and up to one billion colors just like the most advanced flagship-class panels. The foldable display has a diagonal of 8.02 inches, a Quad HD+ resolution of 1914 x 2160 pixels, the HDR10+ certification, Dolby Vision support, and a peak brightness of up to 1,300 nits. On the external part, there is an AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2520 pixels, the HDR10+ certification, Dolby Vision, and a 6.56-inch diagonal. The Vivo X Fold has an 8.03-inch foldable AMOLED display with a 2K resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and the HDR10+ certification, while the external panel is a 6.53-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate.

Specs & Software

If you are looking for the most advanced hardware, go for the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 without thinking twice. First of all, it is powered by the best Qualcomm chipset to date: the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 mobile platform. It is an SoC built at 4 nm with an octa-core architecture composed of a Cortex X2 CPU running at a max frequency of 3.19 GHz, three Cortex A710 CPUs running at a frequency of 2.75 GHz, and four Cortex A510 running at 1.8 GHz, as well as an Adreno 730 GPU. The chipset is paired with 12 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of internal storage, so there is more internal storage than Vivo X Fold which stops at 512 GB. Further, the X Fold has an inferior Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform. The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 comes with an interesting MIUI customization dedicated to foldable phones based on Android 12, while the Vivo runs Origin OS Ocean based on Android 12.

Camera

While the Xiaomi Fold 2 wins the display and hardware comparison, the Vivo X Fold is definitely better when it comes to the cameras. It has a quad rear camera including a 50 MP main sensor with OIS and laser autofocus, an 8 MP periscope lens with 5x optical zoom and OIS, a 12 MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, and a 48 MP ultrawide sensor. With the Xiaomi, you only get a 50 MP main camera with OIS, an 8 MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and a 13 MP ultrawide sensor.

Battery

Not only the Vivo X Fold has a slightly bigger battery with a capacity of 4600 mAh, but it is also the only one to feature wireless charging, and it reaches a wireless charging power of 50W. So it wins the battery comparison.

Price

You need about €1300/$1300 to purchase the Vivo X Fold and that is the same price as the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 in China. So which one is the best? If you care about the camera, then Vivo X Fold wins. It even comes with a bigger battery and wireless charging. For the rest, the Xiaomi looks slightly more interesting. Which one would you pick?
