Several reports have claimed that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will be Samsung’s first phone to feature a 200-megapixel camera. The Samsung Electronics Mobile Experience division has confirmed that the S23 Ultra will have a 200-megapixel camera, according to the South Korean news site ET News.

The Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, which is expected to launch on Sept. 8 in the global market, will come equipped with a 200-megapixel camera. The upcoming Xiaomi 12T Pro is also expected to feature a 200-megapixel camera. Both devices are equipped with a Samsung ISOCELL HP1 main snapper.

Speculations are rife that the S23 Ultra will not have the HP1 sensor. Instead, it could be equipped with an unannounced ISOCELL HP2 sensor. Reports have claimed that it will be accompanied by a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 10-megapixel periscope zoom lens with 10x optical zoom.

Rumors have it that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which is likely to go official in November this year. It looks like the South Korean company won’t make an S23 Ultra with an Exynos chip.

The device is said to pack a 5,000mAh battery, which will probably support 45W fast charging. For selfies, it is likely to retain the 40-megapixel autofocus-enabled front camera, which was made available on the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

A new report has revealed that the S23 Ultra’s ultra-sonic fingerprint scanner will have a larger scanning area than before. The rest of the specifications of the S23 Ultra are under wraps. The Ultra is expected to debut with the vanilla Galaxy S23 and the S23 Plus in Q1 2023.
