Back in July, Xiaomi ended software support for the Redmi K20 Pro (aka Mi 9T Pro) globally. Three months later, the company now hints at the end of after-sales support for this handset along with five other phones in China.
The firm made an announcement regarding the end of after-sales support for these phones over the weekend. But the notice was revoked a few hours later.
According to the announcement, the following smartphones will no longer be offered support at the service centers in China.
- Mi 9 Transparent Premium Edition
- Mi 9 Transparent Edition
- Mi 9 SE
- Mi 8
- Redmi K20 Pro Premium Edition
- Redmi K20 Pro
But as the notice has been revoked and hasn’t been reinstated yet, the actual after-sales support of the aforementioned devices in China is a mystery for now. Perhaps, the company will make an announcement regarding it soon.
On the other hand, there’s no similar notice from any of the global wings of Xiaomi yet. However, we still recommend you contact your local Xiaomi support team to learn the availability of the service for any of the above-listed handsets.
It is normal for companies to stop offering software and hardware support for their older products. But the Redmi K20 Pro is only 3 years old and people usually replace batteries around this time. We hope Xioami to extend the support a bit longer.
