In October 2021, Samsung launched the Samsung W22 smartphone in the Chinese market. Now, the brand has announced that its successor, the Samsung W23 5G, will launch on October 21 at 7 PM local time in China.
For those unaware, the Samsung W22 is a luxurious version of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 smartphone exclusively made for China. Similarly, the Samsung W23 5G is also expected to be a custom variant of the Galaxy Z Flip 4. Going by a leaked poster, Samsung will also launch the W23 Flip (custom Galaxy Z Flip 4) at the launch event. Both devices will be sold through China Telecom.
Both the devices are expected to feature gold hinges and come with a logo on the back that says “Heart to the world.” Similar to the W-series phones from the past, the W23, and W23 Flip will be sold to raise money for charitable causes.
Last year, the Samsung W22 5G was released with a 16,999 yuan ($2,372) price tag. Similar pricing is anticipated for the W23. Let’s take a look at the expected specifications.
The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset will power the W23 and W23 Flip. The W23 will be a foldable phone with a 7.6-inch foldable display, while the W23 Flip will be a clamshell device with a 6.7-inch foldable screen.
The W23 5G will likely come with a triple camera setup on the back with a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The front camera will have a 10-megapixel unit and a 4-megapixel under-display unit.
The cameras on the Samsung W23 Flip will likely be a 12-megapixel primary unit and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide unit.
