YouTube recently introduced channel handles for users to discover and converse with creators. Now the popular video-sharing platform has announced a host of new features and a new look. The new user interface improvements are coming to mobile, desktop, and TVs. It is said to make navigation easier and improve the user experience. It’s worth noting that while the new features have started rolling out, it will take time to be available on every device that a user owns. Hence users should start seeing the improvements over the next few weeks.

The most interesting new feature YouTube has introduced is Precise Seeking for mobile devices. Users can simply press and hold on to the screen or swipe up to see a visual timeline of the video. They can also double-tap with two fingers to skip a chapter. Another handy feature is the Pinch to Zoom. Users can simply zoom in and out to get a better look at something on their iOS and Android devices. The video also maintains its close-up range when the zoom is let go so that the user can watch the remainder of it in the same detail.

For those using dark mode on mobile devices and desktops, YouTube has introduced Ambient mode. It lets the colours of the video spill out of the player creating a soft glow effect. Additionally, the dark mode is now, even more, darker on mobile, desktop, and TV.

Apart from the new features, YouTube has also reworked the Playlist interface. It now shows the ambient colour as well as extra details about the playlist itself. Other changes include usability improvements like YouTube links in the video description are now shown as easy-to-spot buttons whereas frequent action buttons including like, share, and download are redesigned to minimise clutter.
