Samsung is gearing up to launch its newest generation of the Galaxy S23 series of flagship smartphones. But prior to its release, some interesting details regarding the camera of the Galaxy S23 Ultra have surfaced. So here are all the details.

According to known tipster Ice Universe, the South Korean tech giant is planning on launching it top end Galaxy S23 Ultra with a large 200 megapixel primary camera sensor on the rear. While such a large sensor is not exactly new on smartphones, Samsung is apparently planning on offering major improvements to this camera. Reportedly, the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 200 megapixel sensor will offer great low light performance for both video capture and photography.

He further added that the camera will also have “unparalleled computational skills.” Ice Universe also claimed that these improvements will be the biggest jump in camera in five years for the brand. In other words, the Galaxy S23 Ultra could have one of the best cameras on a smartphone next year. The good news for Samsung fans doesn’t end just yet either since Ice Universe also claimed that the upcoming premium grade handset will also feature a new and improved telephoto lens as well.

The tipster said that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will retain the same zoom cameras as the last gen Galaxy S22 Ultra, which means a 3x and 10x periscopic zoom sensor. However, the telephoto sensor wi feature improvements in color and “some AI algorithms” that will make big improvements in overall quality on the newer flagship model. For those unaware, hardware isn’t the entire picture in smartphone photography, computational processes play a big role in improving camera performance in recent years.
