Sony had revealed that it planned to roll out the Android 13 OS update for its Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 5 IV smartphone models soon earlier this month. However, while the company never revealed the launch date for this update, the major software upgrade has now started rolling out for the flagship Xperia 1 IV model.
Interestingly enough, the Japanese tech giant hasn’t officially announced the release for the Android 13 update for these models. But many Xperia 1 IV users have confirmed that the update is currently rolling out. The news arrives from an XDADevelopers report, which stated that the update is now available in Europe. Although, only the dual SIM version of the device is receiving this update as of right now.

The report further added that the update is limited to certain carriers at the moment. The eligible operators include O2, EE, and Altice right now. It also appears that the update is limited in terms of region availability. Fortunately, we can safely assume that a broader roll out for the major update should be just around the corner, unless there are some notable issues with the new update. Apart from the latest version of Android, the company is also bringing the October 2022 security patch as well.
On the other hand, Sony hasn’t made any indications of the Xperia 5 IV receiving the update anytime soon. Meaning, all we can do is hope for the Android 13 update to roll out for the device soon. So stick around for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this matter.
