Oppo unveiled the Oppo Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro smartphones in July 2022 in India. Both phones are also available on the global market. Our visit to Oppo’s factory in Noida, India, revealed that the Reno 8 series is built to last. Both devices are promised to receive two Android OS upgrades up to Q2 2024 and four years of security updates. In addition, the 36-month Fluency Rating mark from TÜV SÜD. The company has now confirmed that the Reno 8 Pro has received TUV Rheinland certification for battery efficiency.

So, what does that mean? Firstly, TUV Rheinland is a global expert organization that tests batteries for durability, reliability, and safety. After testing OPPO’s proprietary lithium battery and Battery Health Management (BHM) system on the Reno 8 Pro, the Rheinland lab has awarded it the TUV Rheinland certification.

Oppo’s Battery Health Engine (BHE) extends battery life while maintaining peak charging speeds without compromising battery durability. This allows the phone to retain 80 percent of its original charging capacity after 1600 charge cycles that effectively span four years of use, claims the company. It exceeds the international standard of 60 percent battery capacity after 300 charge cycles.

The Reno 8 Pro houses a 4,500mAh battery that supports 80W charging. It is equipped with a 5-layer charging protection that includes adapter overload protection, quick charging condition identification protection, interface overload protection, battery current/voltage overload protection, and battery fuse protection.

The Reno 8 Pro is available for Rs 45,999 in India and comes in two colors: Glazed Green and Glazed Black. It offers other features like a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz display, a Dimensity 8100-Max chip, 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage, a 32-megapixel (Sony IMX709) front camera, 50-megapixel (Sony IMX766) triple rear cameras, and an under-display fingerprint scanner.
