The vanilla Redmi Note 12 debuted in China in October alongside the Note 12 Pro series smartphones. It is rumored that the handset will also launch in the global market, although no specific details have been released by the company yet. The Redmi Note 12 might, however, be launching in Malaysia soon as the handset has reportedly been certified by SIRIM. Here are the details.

Tipster Mukul Sharma has spotted the standard Redmi Note 12 5G on Malaysia’s SIRIM (Standard and Industrial Research Institute) certification site with model number 22111317G. The listing suggests the device may launch soon in the country. However, there’s no official word yet.

The Redmi Note 12 flaunts a 6.67-inch Samsung AMOLED display with a centered punch-hole. It offers a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD+), a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. There’s a 4500000:1 contrast ratio, 1200 nits peak brightness level, 4096-level dimming, and a DCI-P3 color gamut.

Under the hood, the phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset coupled with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. It runs MIUI 13 based on Android 12, out of the box. For photography, there’s a dual rear camera system comprising a 48-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. At the front, it sports an 8-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calls.

The smartphone comes with an IP53 rating, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, an IR blaster, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Connectivity options on the device include dual SIM, 5G, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1, GNSS, and USB Type-C. It packs a 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging.
