Xiaomi announced Redmi in July 2013 as a budget smartphone series and later made it a separate sub-brand in 2019 with entry-level and mid-range devices. Redmi phones are exceptionally popular in India, and they occupy a huge chunk of the countryโ€™s smartphone market. Redmiโ€™s shipment figures tell the same story.

The company announced that it has shipped 72 million Redmi Note series phones in India since the launch of the Redmi Note 4G smartphone in 2014.

It is evident that Redmi Note phones perform very well in the Indian market. Last year, the brand announced it has sold more than 240 million Redmi Note smartphones worldwide. The brandโ€™s success is attributed to the rapid expansion of its retail network. It has 3,000 stores and service centers in India alone.

To celebrate the new milestone, Xiaomi has slashed the prices of the Redmi Note 11 and Redmi Note 11S by up to Rs. 1500. The Redmi Note 11S can be purchased at Rs 15,999 (regular price Rs 16,499) for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. The Redmi Note 11 is available at a starting price of Rs 12,999 (previously Rs 13,499) for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage version.

Redmi Note 12 series is also expected to launch soon in India. The Redmi Note 12 5G has already bagged a couple of certifications, hinting it might debut soon. The handset comes with a 6.67-inch Samsung AMOLED display with a centered punch-hole. Under the hood, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset coupled with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.

The smartphone has a dual rear camera system comprising a 48-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, it sports an 8-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calls.
