MIUI 14, the latest Android 13-based custom interface for Xiaomi devices, was unveiled earlier this month with improved system architecture and streamlined design. The stable build of the software will start rolling out to eligible smartphones in January. But ahead of it, the firm has started seeding the beta development version of MIUI 14 to Xiaomi Mi 11 and Redmi Note 11T Pro series devices in China. Here are the details.
As reported by users, Xiaomi has started rolling out the development version of MIUI 14 to Mi 11, Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11 Ultra, Redmi Note 11T Pro, and Redmi Note 11T Pro+ in China. The changelog shows the software will bring the photon engine architecture, which will enable smooth performance and faster loading of third-party applications.

This pre-release version should allow the users of the above-mentioned devices to try their hands on the latest version of MIUI. However, the update will likely come laced with various bugs and issues that may disrupt one’s daily usage.
Xiaomi is yet to announce MIUI 14 globally. We can expect the software to make its international debut with a few additional features and some omissions. It’s likely that the Xiaomi voice assistant and some Mijia interconnection features won’t make it out of China.
To recall, the new software brings a visual overhaul and some new features. There are customizable folders with large icons and new widget options with various shapes and sizes. In addition, Xiaomi also added automatic compression for less-used apps, and a toggle to turn off permanent notifications. Xiaomi has also worked a lot to make MIUI 14 light and streamlined.
