At CES 2023, TCL announced a number of products. One of them is the TCL 40 series of smartphones. The lineup includes three models, such as TCL 40 R 5G, TCL 40 SE, and TCL 408.

As their names suggest, only TCL 40 R 5G comes with 5G connectivity, while the other two are limited to 4G. It is also the most expensive of all but will start at only $219. On the other hand, TCL 40 SE and TCL 408 will retail at $169 and $129, respectively.

Despite carrying different price tags, all three phones come with a 50MP main camera, a large-sized battery, and NXTVISION screen technology. All of them also arrive with a MicroSD card slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The TCL 40 R 5G is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC, whereas a MediaTek Helio G37 chip is present underneath the TCL 40 SE. Both of them sport a 90Hz display, however, the 40 R has a 6.6-inch panel as compared to a larger 6.75-inch screen on the 40 SE.

Just like most TCL-branded smartphones, these handsets will be sold in Europe and some parts of Asia. Either way, it is worth noting that the TCL 40 SE could debut in the US in some form. The device may come with slightly different specs and possibly a different name for the region.
