Oppo recently unveiled the Oppo A78 5G in the Malaysian market. Now, the brand is gearing up for its launch in India. A tweet released by the brand confirms that it will debut on Jan. 16 in the Indian market.

The Oppo A78 5G that is heading to India could be the same as the one that is available in Malaysia. The teaser confirms that it has a dual-camera setup and a side-facing fingerprint scanner. The back panel of the phone has a matte finish, whereas a glossy strip can be seen extending downwards from the camera island.

The 5G-capable device will be backed by a 5,000mAh battery. The poster also reveals that the device will offer 8 GB of extended RAM. With a few days remaining for the launch, the company is expected to confirm a few more details about it in the coming days.

The Malaysian edition of the Oppo A78 5G measures 163.8 x 75.1 x 7.99mm and weighs around 188 grams. It has a 6.56-inch IPS LCD display that produces an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels, 269 ppi pixel density, and a refresh rate of 90Hz. A layer of Panda Glass protects the screen.

On the front, it has an 8-megapixel camera for selfies. The back panel of the phone has a 50-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel mono lens. It runs on the ColorOS 13-based Android OS.

The Dimensity 700 chipset is present under the hood of the Oppo A78 5G. The device offers 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. For additional storage, it has a microSD card slot. It is backed by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W SuperVOOC charging. In Malaysia, it is available in black and purple shades.

As per a recent report, the Oppo A78 5G’s base model may cost around Rs. 18,500 (~$227) and Rs. 19,000 (~$238) in India.
